Chelyabinsk Zinc Plant, the top producer of zinc and zinc alloys in Russia, announced the production of 81,247 metric tons of salable SHG zinc and zinc-based alloys in the first half of 2012.
The amount of zinc-based alloys and salable SHG zinc represented a one percent drop compared to the first half of 2011 when 82,046 metric tons were produced, MetalInfo.ru reports.
Of the metal produced, 65.1 percent was supplied to the domestic market.
Nova Zinc LLC, a CZP affiliate and the operator of the Alzhal zinc and lead ore mine in Kazakhstan, produced 16,676 metric tons of zinc concentrate in 2012′s first half, a 4.4 percent drop from its production of 17,443 metric tons in H1 2011. Lead concentrate production dropped 32.1 percent to 1,995 metric tons versus 2,939 metric tons in H1 2011.
The Brock Metal Company Limited, another CZP subsidiary and the leading supplier of zinc die-casting alloys in the United Kingdom, sold 14,549 metric tons of zinc alloys in the first half of 2012, representing an 8.2 percent growth compared to the 13,449 metric tons it sold in H1 2011, MetalInfo.ru reports.
In 2011, CZP produced 160,001 metric tons of salable SHG zinc.
