Evraz UGOK, a subsidiary of Russian steel producing and mining company Evraz Group, grew its May production of iron ore concentrate by 0.1 percent year on year to 877,500 metric tons.
The subsidiary, also referred to as Southern Ore Mining and Processing Enterprise, grew its agglomerate output in May by 23.8 percent year-on-year to 172,000 metric tons. During the January to May period of this year, Evraz UGOK increased its iron ore concentrate production 3.8 percent to 4.326 million metric tons, SteelOrbis reports.
The company experienced a 20.3 percent increase in its agglomerate output year-on-year to 899,000 metric tons. In April, Evraz UGOK increased its iron ore concentrate production year-on-year by 2.2 percent to 858,000 metric tons. Its agglomerate output grew 2.1 percent in April year-on-year to 194,000 metric tons.
Evraz Group is a vertically-integrated mining, steel and vanadium company with operations in South Africa, Canada, the United States, Europe, Ukraine and the Russian Federation. Evraz produced 16.8 million metric tons of crude steel in 2011. In 2010, the company produced 16.3 million metric tons, making it the 15th largest steel producer worldwide. The company’s consolidated revenues for 2010 were $13.394 billion. Its consolidated adjusted EBITDA was $2.35 billion, according to SteelOrbis.
