UMMC’s Serov plant earns $213.3 million in H1

The A.K. Serov Metallurgical Plant, a part of the ferrous metals division of the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company, kept its first half earnings steady year-on-year, earning approximately $213.3 million.

The company produced three percent more rolled and calibrated steel in the first half of 2012 year-on-year, producing 254,100 metric tons. The company said it would be able to count on a reliable level of orders due to its wide product range, RusBusinessNews reports.

The A.K. Serov Metallurgical Plant produced round steel bars that have a diameter of 10 to 300 millimeters, in addition to axle billets, PL1 and PL2 grade pig iron. The axle billets are primarily sold to OJSC Uralvagonzavod.

UGMK-OTSM LLC, which is responsible for the non-ferrous metal processing sector assets for UMMC, experienced more than double its output of nickel-rolled products in H1 2012. The company also increased its copper-nickel rolled product output by close to 25 percent, its bronze product output 6.3 percent and its copper product output 1.8 percent, according to RusBusinessNews.

The output of electrical copper bus bars and profiles and radiator tape grew 2.5 times during the first half of the year because of the high demand from automobile and machine building companies.

UGMK-OTSM LLC includes the Kolchuginsky Non-Ferrous Metal Plant and the Kirov Non-Ferrous Metal Processing Plant.
