In West Sumbawa, efforts are underway to establish the region as a Child-Friendly Regency in time for National Children’s Day on July 23. This initiative involves collaboration between government bodies, community groups, and private entities.

PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (AMMAN) is playing a significant role through its Community Development and Empowerment Program. The company is supporting various initiatives aimed at health, education, and child protection to create an environment conducive to children’s development.

A focus on health is evident in AMMAN’s Stunting Prevention and Reduction program. This initiative addresses nutritional needs of toddlers and pregnant women by enhancing governance and implementing the DASHAT program at the village level. The result has been a 30% reduction in stunting rates within targeted areas.

Additionally, AMMAN promotes Community-Based Integrated Child Protection (PATBM) and Women-Friendly Villages (DRPPA), which emphasize children’s rights in village development while preventing violence.

Educational programs are also prioritized. The PAUD Prestasi program introduces computational thinking methods to teachers, improving children’s cognitive skills by up to 9%, according to IDELA scores. Sports for Development provides sports training alongside scholarships, fostering values such as sportsmanship while combating bullying and drug abuse.

To further support these efforts, AMMAN facilitates capacity building for KLA Task Force members and supports Integrated Child-Friendly Public Spaces (RPTRA). These spaces integrate play with women’s empowerment services.

Environmental awareness is another area of focus. Programs like School Waste Management teach students waste sorting and composting techniques. The Blue Program introduces children to ocean activities safely, promoting environmental care from an early age.

AMMAN also offers Hospitality Training for out-of-school adolescents, providing scholarships that equip them with tourism sector skills.

Priyo Pramono, Vice President of Social Impact at AMMAN stated: “On this National Children’s Day, let us celebrate all the efforts…to open up the widest possible opportunities for children for their bright future.”

The combined efforts aim toward realizing West Sumbawa as a child-friendly regency contributing towards Indonesia’s Golden Generation.
