Dr. Andrew Forrest AO has extended his congratulations to the Prime Minister on his re-election, emphasizing the significance of climate-focused policies. “I warmly congratulate the Prime Minister on his decisive re-election,” Forrest stated.
He highlighted that the election results indicate strong public support for addressing climate change. “This result sends a clear and unequivocal message: Australians will back and support policies that recognise the economic opportunities which come from acting on the existential threat of climate change,” he said.
Forrest stressed the importance of political parties having credible plans to tackle climate issues. “It shows that any party which seeks to govern this country must have a serious and credible plan to confront the climate crisis.”
Expressing his non-partisan stance, Forrest remarked, “As I have always said, I support good policy, not parties — and in that spirit, I look forward to working with the Prime Minister to deliver practical outcomes for every Australian.”
Forrest urged Australia to leverage its global position responsibly. “In a turbulent world, Australia remains a strong, principled and pragmatic voice. We must now use that voice to back science, seize the green energy opportunity, and strengthen our role in the world with compassion, ambition and purpose.”
He called for leadership amid global challenges. “In an era shaped by climate change, fragmentation and strategic competition, Australia has the chance to lead with clarity and resolve.”
Forrest also reaffirmed commitments across Fortescue, Minderoo Foundation, and Tattarang towards supporting Australia’s resilience. He praised government initiatives such as “the Future Made in Australia plan,” among others.
Discussing industrial development, Forrest proposed establishing a green iron industry starting in Pilbara within this decade. “Green iron can be the biggest industry Australia has ever built. Let’s start in the Pilbara this decade — with investment, markets and skills.”
He advocated for renewable energy expansion and regional growth during this term. “This term must drive the build out of renewables and heavy industry decarbonisation while working with regional Australians to create jobs and prosperity.”
Lastly, Forrest emphasized ocean conservation efforts. “Our ocean is our greatest life source and carbon sink. It must be protected. Australia should ratify the High Seas Treaty before the UN Ocean Conference in June.”
