KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. has initiated a sponsorship program named ‘KGHM Female Sports Champions’ to promote gender equality and inspire future female leaders in sports. This initiative focuses on supporting young, talented female athletes who demonstrate passion and commitment in their respective sports fields. The program is part of KGHM’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities aimed at fostering equality, cooperation, and responsibility.
Anna Smycz-Michalak, Chief Communication Officer of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., stated, “In creating the KGHM Female Sports Champions programme, we wanted to reach the most promising Polish female athletes and help them develop their full potential.” She emphasized that this is the first time KGHM is actively supporting young female athletes in such a manner.
The program aims to address disparities in earnings between male and female athletes due to lesser sponsorship interest in women’s sports. By providing support, KGHM hopes to enhance the performance of Polish national teams on the global stage and highlight the challenges faced by women in sports.
The selected participants include Oliwia Gołaś, an Alpine paraskier; Aleksandra Kościelniak, a backstroke swimmer; Zuzanna Maślana, a shot-putter; Kornelia Olkucka, a Formula 4 racer; Maja Pawelska, a tennis player; and Kaja Ziomek-Nogal, a speed skater. Each athlete represents various stages of career development across different sports disciplines.
KGHM continues its commitment to gender equality by promoting equal opportunities for professional development within the company. It supports women’s team sports and encourages volunteer projects among employees to engage with local communities.
