KGHM signs copper wire rod supply deal with Tele-Fonika through 2030

KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. has entered into a new agreement with Tele-Fonika Kable S.A. to supply copper wire rod from 2026 to 2030. This deal extends the longstanding collaboration between the two companies, which play a crucial role in supporting supply chains vital for Poland’s and Europe’s energy transformation. The estimated sales value of this agreement ranges from PLN 6.9 billion to a maximum of PLN 9.7 billion, based on projected copper prices and exchange rates.

Andrzej Szydło, President of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., stated, “The cooperation between KGHM and Tele-Fonika Kable is a strategic partnership supporting the energy transformation of Poland’s and Europe’s economies.” He emphasized that this partnership allows Polish industry to compete globally by offering modern technological solutions.

Piotr Mirek, a Member of the Management Board of Tele-Fonika Kable and Executive Director for Supply Chains and Investments in JDR Cable Systems, commented on the significance of this partnership: “The continuation of cooperation with KGHM Polska Miedź represents for Tele-Fonika Kable confirmation of the mutual trust and joint approach to building a responsible and lasting supply chain.”

The agreement highlights the importance of local partnerships in fostering economic development through domestic skills and resources. It also underscores responsible production practices as both companies commit to high standards in their operations.

KGHM’s metallurgical facilities are recognized for their responsible metal production practices, holding certifications like the Copper Mark. The company ensures an environmentally conscious supply chain by utilizing renewable energy sources at its Cedynia Wire Rod Plant since 2024.

Tele-Fonika Kable is known globally for producing high-voltage cables essential for renewable energy projects, particularly wind power. Since acquiring JDR Cable Systems Ltd., they have expanded their capacity in underwater cable production, serving offshore wind farms domestically and internationally.
